Individual trip to Galapagos
Perhaps ecuador’s most famous destination and for many the reason to travel to Ecuador. Go Local! Travel organises unique trips to the beautiful Galapagos Islands for you. Again, we can be very flexible, because we compose the trips ourselves.
Booking a Galapagos trip is a little less easy than our other destinations. This is mainly due to the price. This one can go up quite a bit, $3,000 for 8 days is no exception. Go Local! However, Travel does not want to contribute to this kind of huge sum and is also very critical of travelling to Galapagos. We want to keep it affordable, but also to be sure that the organization in question takes it very seriously with this hugely unique location in the world. A responsible 6-day trip can be booked with us for €990.
Travel booking
Because we go for the best price/quality, we book the Galapagos based on quote. We are looking for the trip that suits your needs. If you agree to the trip and price of that moment, we will make your booking in order. So we don’t have fixed prices, but only use the last-minute rates.
A Galapagos trip is so complicated that you should not book it yourself (to avoid disappointments and high costs). We have learned from experience that the following trade-offs are crucial:
1. I’m going for the birds, reptiles and other animals.
2. I go for underwater life (snorkeling).
3. I’m going for nature.
4. I’m going for the cruise.
5. I’m going for the unique feeling.
6. I’m going for security, and that may cost a little.
7. I have no restriction in days (8 maximum).
Based on your preferences (several possible) there is an appropriate trip to put together.
Travel is available for 3 nights, 4 nights, 7 nights. You should keep in mind that you always have a full day to travel (so the 4 day offer is really only 3 days Galapagos).
Difference Cruise and Island hopping
With a Cruise you stay on the boat (sleep and eat) and often sail at night to the next destination. At Island hopping you stay in a hotel and go in the morning to a desert island and return in the afternoon. There are a number of islands that can only be visited on a Cruise (Genovesa, Espanola, Fernandina) but most islands can be visited via both the Cruise and Island hopping. With a Cruise you have the possibility to make two walks at a day, eacht 2,5 hours and a snorkeling tour. With Island hopping one walk per day (2,5 hour) and a snorkeling tour.
On the inhabited islands (where you sleep during the Island hopping) you can also go out on your own. In our Local Planet you will get a detailed description of the locations you can visit without a guide of the park. (Please note that many organizations offer these tours under the guise of Island Hopping!) We do not think this is entirely justified and a waste of money. Many cruise boats also have several days in the program with these stops).
The Cruise trip is generally more relaxing because there is no sailing time during the day. At Island hopping you go in the morning to the uninhabited island (about 2 hours sailing) and in the afternoon back again. This time is used on the cruise to read a booklet or relax in a different way. It won’t be that you can see more during a cruise.
“You see the same thing, but a cruise gives you the chance to see the same animals more often than at Island hopping.”Finally, it is important to think about the luxury of travel. You can go on a cruise (simple, medium, luxury). For the Island hopping we use hotels from the higher segment. If you want this more budget you can indicate this. Please note that the sailing from island to island will be a fairly rough trip throughout the year. By speedboat (Lancha), you’ll sail with 16 people from one inhabited island in two hours to the next inhabited island.
Enjoy the Galapagos with spectacular day tours to uninhabited islands during the day. In the evening you stay in an attractive hotel on the island with restaurants nearby. Of course it is also possible to make it a day of ‘beach holiday’. We recommend visiting two islands and making a 6-day trip.
Combi Travel Cruise and Island hopping
